Learning to Serve
Our Learning to Serve projects involve each year group partnering with a local community organisation to create an ongoing project throughout the year. These projects vary widely, from local litter picks with The Anfield Litter Network and intergenerational walks with Priory Medical Centre to CPR sessions with the Northwest Ambulance Service, and much more! The primary goal is for the children to collaborate with incredible community partners and individuals, discover the positive work happening in Anfield, and develop a sense of pride in their local area while helping to improve it. These projects also encourage children to cultivate a deep care for the world around them, apply Catholic Social Teachings in their own community, and understand the rewarding sense of pride that comes from helping others. Each year group takes on its own unique project, and by the time they finish primary school, the children will have developed a broad range of skills. Please take a look at the projects for each year group below.
Andy’s Positive Programme
Andy’s Positive Programme aims to reduce antisocial behaviour within our local community. Andy
has created a workbook designed specifically for primary school children to help them understand
what antisocial behaviour is and how they can play a part in making a positive impact on both
society and their community. The goal is to generate long-term benefits by nurturing responsible
citizens for the future. By teaching positive mindsets from an early age, the programme helps
children develop a clearer understanding of right and wrong while fostering a sense of pride in their
origins. The programme encourages children to identify the key issues they believe affect the Anfield
area and explore ways to address them. They then form a committee to tackle these challenges by
reaching out to local stakeholders and the council. This year, the leader of the council was so
impressed by their efforts that he visited the school to attend a presentation and support their
campaign. The letter to the council and its response are available for view below.
