5M had a fabulous time at the Eco Centre and Formby beach today! We enjoyed a very informative tour from one of the rangers, Darren Lloyd. We learnt all about coastal change and how erosion is changing our coast. Did you know that Formby is loosing 4 metres of sand dunes every year? Back at the Eco Centre, we put all our new learning into a presentation – watch this space, these will be uploaded here soon!
During Language and Culture week 2017 Year 5 were lucky enough to have a visit from Julia, a Brazilian national from a local restaurant (Fazenda) in Liverpool. She taught us some Portuguese and we even got to taste some traditional Brazilian sweets! YUM!
Well done to all those pupils in Year 5 who completed their Viking Homework Project. We loved reading through all the information.
Take a look at our 3 winners! Well done Lexi, Katie and Hills!
Today, Year 5 enjoyed a visit from two ‘real’ Vikings, Sven and Njal. They spent the whole day with us, teaching us about Viking life, Viking raids, Longboats and battles. Take a look at our photographs to see what we got up to!
Due to the success of our rainforest project, this term we will be assigning a Viking project to be completed at home. Please see homework project for all of the details! Good luck!
Welcome to the Summer term! We’ve got lots of wonderful activities and experiences planned for you! This term we will be studying the novel Holes by Louis Sachar and we will be learning all about the Vikings and how they lived.
We will be having a Viking Day on Tuesday, 16th May. On this day we will be visited by some Vikings! Please find more information on our year 5 summer newsletter 2017
After half term, we will be learning all about Liverpool’s coastline. Please see new summer planner 2017 for all of our Summer term objectives.

Don’t forget to come and watch our sign language concert on
Tuesday 28th March at 2.15pm.
Today Year 5 had the exciting opportunity of going to a concert at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. We heard music that was centred around the theme of “Revolution”. Each piece was written by a different composer who embodied revolutionary concepts during the time when they lived. The style of music ranged from Bach to the Beatles and we even got to participate in a few of the songs by singing and dancing! It was a wonderful afternoon of music and culture!
As part of our topic on ‘The Americas’, Year 5 were given the challenge to create a project based on any aspect of the rain forest. Look at how creative and interesting our projects are!
Everyone who took part should be very proud of themselves, and has also received stickers for their ‘independence’ and ‘creativity’ sections of their superhero bookmarks. Well done everyone! We are so proud of all the projects!
